Media uploads and formatting

Supported file types, size limits, and tips for formatting images and video across different platforms.

Supported media types

Images: JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF are supported across all platforms. Animated GIFs are supported on Twitter/X and some Facebook post types.

Video: MP4 is the universal supported format. MOV files are accepted on Instagram and TikTok. Maximum video length varies by platform — TikTok supports up to 10 minutes, Instagram Feed up to 60 minutes, Twitter/X up to 2 minutes and 20 seconds.

Image size recommendations

For the best results across platforms, use a 1:1 square image at 1080×1080px or a 4:5 portrait at 1080×1350px. These dimensions work well on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook without cropping.

Twitter/X card images display best at 1200×675px (16:9). LinkedIn banners should be 1200×627px.

Use the Postprism Image Resizer tool (free, no account required) to batch-resize a single image to all platform presets before uploading.

Uploading multiple images

You can attach up to 10 images in a single post (carousel). Drag and drop to reorder them in the attachment panel. Instagram Carousels, LinkedIn document posts, and Facebook multi-image posts all support this format.

Platform size limits at publish time

Individual platforms enforce their own file size limits. Instagram images: 8MB. LinkedIn images: 5MB. Twitter/X: 5MB for images, 512MB for video. If a file exceeds a platform limit, that platform will be skipped and marked as failed in your publishing results. Postprism will show the specific error so you can compress and retry.
